Mizuno JPX 825 Steel Iron Set 4-GWExcellent ConditionDynalite Gold XPRegular R300 Flex ShaftsNew Lamkin STD Grips
KEY TECHNOLOGIES:The 8-PW have a deep cavity and a lower, more forward CG for improved accuracy and distance control. The 4-7 irons have a thin face with multiple thicknesses and a broad sweet spot to maximize forgiveness and ball speeds on mis-hits.PROS:PLAYABILITY:Lower, more boring ball flight than others in its class, albeit easy to get up in the air; fairly simple to knock down and better than average at shaping shots.ACCURACY/FORGIVENESS:More game-improvement than max game-improvement in terms of forgiveness; does help to cover up mis-hits but doesn’t get rid of them.DISTANCE CONTROL:Not the longest in the group but certainly among the most reliable, especially from 150 yards and in; distance doesn’t suffer too much on mis-hits.FEEL:Head of the class; soft, buttery, forged-like feel on well-struck shots; mis-hits are easily diagnosed but not harsh; clubhead remains stable on all but the worst hits.LOOK:Slimmer topline and inconspicuous back weighting give the JPX-825 more of a players’ look at address than many other Max GI irons; has the look of a golf club and not a sledgehammer, like some in the category.BOTTOM LINE:The top-rated iron in its class. First-rate feel you come to expect from a Mizuno iron. Major kudos for playability, look and distance control as well.
