Got the club for an EXCELLENT deal! New club for $12 + $12.50 for USPS priority shipping. It is a Taylormade Rescue 2009 22 deg(4). The first day I played using it, I spent a little time on the range to learn it, as this is my first hybrid club. I don't know what kind of magic Taylormade employs in their club construction, but the ball literaly JUMPS off the club! For example, using a chipping stance (feet together, very little leg movement, arms straight)with about a 3/4 backswing, the ball repeatedly had a 150 yrd CARRY!! I'm 41 yrs old, 6'2" 210 lbs. and while I'm in decent shape, I'm by no means a muscle-head. My point being that strength had nothing to do with it, this club launches the ball 150 yds. with a light, feet together swing! In fact, "grip & rip" is not required. A full normal powered swing can give you 200 yds easy. On the course, I topped the ball and it still rolled 100 yds. in a straight line! The club comes with FCT (flight control tech) enableing you to alter the face/lie angle, but I haven't messed with it. And I'm not about to! In the 1 round I've had to play with it, I hit several long straight shots from both the fairway, and the rough. I'm just an average golfer, and I was able to intentionally hit straight, or fade shots with it just by altering my grip to change the club face angle at contact. In summary, a great, easy to hit, long, and workable club even out of the rough. I know I got a great deal on this, and I don't know what they retail for, but whatever it is, its worth it and then some. Great job to the magicians at Taylormade!Read full review
The sound on this fairway wood is UNMATCHED by any other out there. It has a good solid sound to it. The adjustable shaft works well for those who have a slight draw or fade and want to correct it to go straight or if you have a more moderate draw or fade you can tone it down. Those who have a big hook or slice can help it by going all the way to one side the extreme but it may not be enough. A huge slice may not be corrected even with the shaft set all the way to Draw. The technology is very nice indeed though for those who like to tinker
Finally made the jump from low iron to rescue/hybrid and couldn't be happier. I had hit several hybrids at the range, simulator, and on the course and spent a lot of time figuring out which one I wanted and am very pleased with my purchase. I really like the clubhead size/shape in that it is not too big and bulky like a typical fairway wood and not too small/thin like many hybrids, this one offers the best of both worlds. Small enough to cut through the grass in the rough but large enough that I feel confident when adressing the ball. Hits like a dream too, much easier and greater distance than the 2/3 iron it replaced. Only thing I may change is the shaft and thats only because I tend to have a faster swing speed and like a very stiff shaft. But I was very lucky to find this 2009 model brand new with the exact loft I wanted and at a fantastic price.Read full review
I had been away from Golf for about 6 years, and when some friends asked me to join them for a round, my sister lent me two of her hybrid clubs. Oh my! All of these clubs have a solid weight and low center of gravity. They are easy to swing and extremely forgiving. As a Taylor Made fan, I bought my Rescue 3 hybrid and have been enjoying it ever since. The club is well balanced and gives a tremendous trajectory. I am continual amazed by how easy it is to hit great shots with this club. I was a 12 handicapper, but probably play to a 20 after my lay-off, but with a couple of these in my bag, I'll be lowering my scores easily. I may never hit a three iron again.
This club, the new Taylormade 2009 Rescue is an amazing club. The great thing about these clubs is that it eliminates the need for a 3 wood. The problem with 3 woods is that they are perfect if your in the middle of the fairway and you have the perfect distance. With this club, hitting out of the rough, fairway, or a bad lie means nothing. Im a big believer in hybrids vs. fairway woods. Overall, great club and can be hit maximum 250 yards when hit well. Show me a fairway wood that can hit farther. Great buy and fantastic value in a multi-purpose club.
