I have played for a number of years and played a lot of drivers...persimmon included. The drivers continue to get larger. I ask why do we play 460cc drivers and our 3 woods have remained relatively small and the ball is the same size. The 983E is a nice size, sits up well at address, and explodes off the club face. The club allows the player to maneuver the ball...but I like straight and this club delivers. Great sound, solid feel, excellent size, and playes nicely at 44-44 1/2" which will help with accuracy. One of Titleist best! Eddie
This is a great club with great distance. It's not as forgiving as the 905T but it is just as long and perhaps longer depending on your swing characteristics. It has a more of a flatter trajectory with a medium launch angle. This is much more helpful in windy conditions. I put this in my bag instead of the 905T because it doesn't get off track as much if I make a wild swing. What would be a duck hook with the 905T is a bit of a draw and what would be a big slice is maybe just off the fairway. This club is not for the high handicapper but if you are around a 10 handicap with a swing speed of at least 100-105 then it think this club would suit you.
Originally bought a K model on ebay. Price was good and the seller was too. The club was perfect, but I couldn't hit it-the shaft was just too light. I traded it in for an 8.5* E with the fuji speeder and hit it great on the range. I will take a little work to develop some consistency-I haven't played much in the last 6 years, but used to be a 3 hdcp, so I still have a little bit of a clue(I think). This thing is long, and I love the more compact head that the K. Will report back after more work with it.
I bought this driver as part of a combo with a wilson deep red for a very low price. I've taken this to the driving range a few times and am very impressed. It is very easy to hit and can still hit to 270 on mis hits with range balls. The ball flight is high, about as high as my 7 iron, and I'm used to hitting a lower drive even with my current 10.5. I have yet to see how the height will be affected by the wind. Even with the higer trajectory I'm still 20 yards longer than my current driver and much more accurate. I am so glad I was able to get this and look forward to next golf season.
I have played just about every driver from Callaway, Taylormade and Titleist and the 983E is the best looking, sounding, and feeling I've ever hit. If you can hit near the sweet spot most of the time you will not find a longer driver. Low spinning bomber. I currently game a 9.5* with a stock stiff Speeder, looking for a 8.5* with stiff shaft. I love this thing. BTW, if you hate 460cc monsters like I do this club will really appeal to you. It is a 350cc head with a deep face. It looks like a swollen 975D. It's perfect!
