I play different balls in different conditions. Lethals were my go to ball in the higher elevation courses of Oregon and some of the coastal ones with strong winds. After four or five years I have found that I play the Lethal more than any other ball and now consider it my favorite, even in Palm Springs, Arizon and Baja. It got its notoriety for its low spin and straight trajectory and I have moderate swing speed (102) but a bad hip that keeps my weight back...sometimes forcing me to pull away and slice, but even when I stay back and not finish the ball seems to just miss the fairway with a mild fade. I do prefer the softer balls by Titleist and Callaway around the greens but unless you are in a scramble or team game you can't switch balls mid hole. Lethals are not super soft but they are not hard either. The cover can scuff with milled and new faced wedges, but a single ball usually lasts me 2-4 rounds. Taylormade went to the Tour Preferred with a longer wearing cover for this reason. Same 5 piece contruction but more professional name and packaging. Price point is a bit high but when you consider the quality, versatility and total dominance in windy conditions, you have to put this ball at the top. I got a four day golf vacation coming up next weekend and my buddies from Southern California are coming up to join me. They tell me the courses they play are tough and really dry this year due to the drought and water monitoring. I told them the courses in Oregon are nice and green with soft greens and thick rough. I know a couple marshalls at several courses and they join my group when they can. I usually bring them a bottle of scotch or something and this time one of them asked for a dozen Lethals because he knows I stock up on them and he loves them. They are getting harder and harder to find at a cheap price, reason being they are nothing close to cheap in any sense of the word. Lethals and the TP's are my choice over Titleist because I tend to spin my drives and have trouble spinning my wedges. These balls have reduced the bad effects of those problems and now I am a single digit handicapper.Read full review
Been using these and Pentax's for a dozen years and they never disappointment me. Plays just like Titleist for me without the price tag.
