I bought this after hitting my brothers 9.5 degree superfast a couple of times and liking the light feel and (percieved?) increase in swing speed it gave. I chose the HT (High Trajectory) 13 degree on the advice of a shop pro who wisely concluded that at almost 60 years old my swimg speed is way to slow to have any buiseness hitting a 9.5 or even a 10.5 degree driver. ( There was a time when I could rip the.....never mind...). I cut it down 1/2 " and re-gripped it and it has been great! Getting good distance and straighter than I've hit in a long time. Mis- hits are forgiven yet the club lets you know about it with nice feedback. Sweet-spot hits are easy to feel. All in all, the best driver I've ever used. Side note: The greatest tip from a pro I ever got is as follows: for the amateur golfer with an average or slower swing speed...hit only low-compression balls. If your swing speed can't compress the ball at impact, much of the energy is converted to side-spin. As in SLICE....just something to think about....my pro-v1 days are gone.Read full review
This is one sexy driver. However I should have got a 9.5* because I hit this 10.5* too high so I put mine up for auction and went to Golf Galaxy. I was getting a 240 yd carry with the 10.5 but maybe 5 yards of roll! It really wasn't ballooning but had the trajectory of a well hit 5 iron. I was also hitting this with a slight power fade even though it sets up closed. I don't know why and may not have given it a fair chance. My usual miss with a driver is a little pull left.I think I'll get the 2.0 TP because I hit it in 9.5* at Golf Galaxy and was hitting it a little better than the 2.0 9.5* and I like the look at address better and the HD6 shaft in the TP is sweet. I don't know if it's really worth the extra $100 for the TP though. Both excellent drivers. I just have some cash burning a hole in my pocket, I guess. I still love my 09 9.5* Burner, just hoping for a few more yards off the tee with one of these sexy sticks!Read full review
You better be ready for that extra inch, easy to swing but not use to the length and control. Doesn't sound as good as the Taylormade R7 460 and the Callaway Big Bertha. You got to be a Driver to get use to this Driver. The ball will go all over the place if you can't control the length and light shaft. The easy swing speed will keep your off balance because you really want to kill the ball and see the result of distance. Don't get me wrong this is a great Driver that is why is on the Hot List. YOU REALLY GOT TO CONTROL THE TEMPO.
I recently went shopping for a new driver to replace my Tour Edge Exotic with the green Aldila NV-Exotic 65-s shaft. The tour edge is a great driver in my book, super light just not built well enough for me. I broke two of the heads at the welds but it has a lifetime warranty. I did not skimp on research. I hit on two different launch monitors with several different drivers, r11, Srixon Z-Star, Cleveland Launcher's, Callaway Razr Hawk, etc. From the monitor results I concluded that the Burner Superfast 2.0 TP could just be the club for me. The average distance off center was 0 yards left or right which I found impressive, not that I hit it perfect everytime. My smash factor was 1.43+ (club head speed to ball speed ratio), the distance was great, off center misses were 280+ and good hits from 300-350yds. I then purchased three used drivers off eBay, the Burner Superfast 2.0 TP with the Matrix Ozik stiff shaft, a Srixon Z-star with the Miyazaki Dromos Stiff, and an older Cleveland Launcher 400cc with a Alidila Voodoo Stiff that was shortened by 2" (I wanted to see if I could gain some control with a shorter club, but it turned out to be a bad purchase). The Burner won hands down in my book. I found the Srixon set up with a closed face, the Taylormade is admittedly open, but I felt the Srixon was not 0, but closed. I also found the Dromos shaft in the Srixon to be not stiff enough for me. I hit the ball farther than most, my swing speed is right around 120 mph. I think this driver will be difficult for a person who plays the ball left to right (right handers) with the open face and toe weight but would recommend trying the non tp version if that is your case. This is a great driver.Read full review
I had recently purchased a new Adams Speedline S driver with a regular shaft. I sold it and purchased the Taylormade Burner Superfast 2.0. The Burner was used and the Adams was brand new. I was unable to keep the new Adams in the fairway, but the Taylormade was easy to control with slightly less yardage. I am over 60 yrs old but have learned that sometimes a regular shaft does not work for me. The Taylormade has a stiff shaft and produces an excellent ball flight with the ability to swing it without fear of losing it right. The shaft is a little longer on the Taylormade requiring a more accurate take away but when hit in the sweetspot this is a great driver. Some of my friends are thinking about purchasing one after hitting this one.
