I purchased this club to replace my 09 Raylor and switch to a stiffer shaft. The Matrix Ozik Altus hybrid shaft has to be one of the best performing hybrid shafts I've ever played. This utility club has a great sound off the clubface and good feel. I think this club offers excellent distance off the tee, but I feel the Raylor offers more versatility from troubled lies. The only drawback I had when I looked down at this club at address was the shape. It's a traditional style rescue club, but the width of the crown from the top line to the back of club was a little bigger than I'm used to. I prefer a more compact shape, but the black paint makes it easy on the eyes and a good contrast to the ball at address. Overall I think this a definitely "tour preferred" quality club.
Wow, I have the Ben Hogan #2 Hybrid CFT Ti's and LOVE the Aldila NVS-H 85s shaft on it. Stiff but very responsive to aggressive swings. But this Voodoo SVS8 shaft on the TP Rescue R9 is not only shorter but feels much stiffer, more like an extra stiff. More for a 115+ swing speed in my opinion. I tend to fade or slice the ball with this Rescue TP wood at neutral setting so I have it set at the L setting and the ball goes straight. I have to work hard for a draw, unlike my Hogans which actually set up open?!!The Hogan is an inch longer, so I set the ball further up in my stance like a 4 iron. The TP Rescue sets up more like a 5-6 iron with 4 iron distance, but is not as long as the BH 19 degree...although it seems to be more workable and better out of deep rough or fairway bunkers. I'll give it that. Gotta get used to it whereas the BH are very consistent right from the first 3 swings. Decided to keep the Rescue TP but go with a Ben Hogan 17 degree Hybrid to replace my 5 wood or 2 iron. This rescue TP is Good for what it is Rescue Club. These Hybrids are the best inventions in Golf.Read full review
This is one of if not the best rescue club in the TaylorMade collection. Great out of the rough or middle of the fairway. Low long flight path makes for help on a windy day. Easy to hit.

I am not a big fan of the stock TM Rescue shafts and the I would probably prefer the head to have NO GRAPHICS ... having said that the graphics on the TM Rescue are relatively innocuous (especially compared to some other companies Hybrid clubs). The TM head performs well. I don't find the adjustable hosel make much difference (personally). TM Rescue is one of the better hybrids, a solid product. TM should offer more and better custom shafts and probably a wider range of lofts.
I started out with Ping Rapture hybrids...worked ok. Next were Adams Idea 4 hybrids...worked better, played with them a couple of years. Then I recently saw the O9 TP with VFC. Answer to a prayer. I am a hooker. As those of you who are also hookers know, it is especially difficult to hit a distance club out of the rough without smothering it. Hard to control fairway woods. I started with a 22degree which I set open as soon as I got it. Worked great. Bought a 25 degree which I also set to open. Worked great. Now I started getting crazy ideas. Bought a 17 degree and set it open. Worked great. Got crazier ideas...went to the giant Max grip: felt like baseball bat. Lost the hook. Got softer hands, no more gloves. Worked fabulous. I am not afraid to hit any of these from any lie, except when the bunker lip is too high. Waiting for the 19 degree to arrive in the mail. Saved two shots per round by giving away my fairway woods. What's more to say?Read full review
