I own three sets of the 981s. 2 iron through PW. I bought my first set in 1999. I fell in love with them. My parents live on a golf course on the East Coast and I hate to travel with clubs so therefore I bought a 2nd set in 2004. About a year ago, I bought my 3rd set because the price was too good to pass up: $60 including shipping! Like with anything else, in golf you really have to live by the saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." These clubs have been very forgiving. I have not lost ANY distance and/or control. They all have the same True Temper stiff shafts. Not too light, not too heavy. I have tried irons with new technology and I don't see the difference. Even if I hit the lottery, I would not switch from these irons.
This is a great set of irons for the mid-low handicapper. They have progressive offsets, increasing the offset as the iron number goes down (3i more offset than 9i). What I like most about them is the substantial weight of the club head. Not those light wimpy feeling Ping irons, or other cast stainless knockoffs. These clubs hit the ball high and it lands softly and stays put. The only thing I'd change, and I always do, are some oversize grips, so I don't feel like I have to strangle the grip to keep it from slipping. This type of club gives you the benefit of a top of the line club at a very reasonable price, generally less than $250.
I bought these golf clubs because they are a good product with proven satisfaction by others. It was very affordable. It has proven to be a good product as it meets my needs. It has the features that match my abilities in this sport. The clubs are in excellent condition and are consistent with the sellers remarks. It seems these clubs were cared for very well and I was fotunate to have bought them. . Gary Zatkin.
Make No Mistake these are Players irons. A good swing is rewarded...Not for the High Handicap Player. Easy to Work Both Directions with a Good Swing. Great Classic Looking Iron......

I am so glad I purchased this set of irons. Becaue I love the way I can hit them. I was using a set of Titleist DTR for many years and decided to purchase a new set of irons. I liked the way the DCI looked and they had graphite shaft so I bid and purchased DCI s. The first time I used them I was trilled with the way I could hit them. I would definitely tell others that these irons are excellent. I got about 5 to 10 yards more distance than my other set and the feel was better also. Goto-G ebay buyer.
