Cleveland clubs have impressed me since the days of the orginal VAS and Cory Pavin hitting "THE SHOT". These clubs have a feel and an elegent simplicity that reminds you of why you love the game. The clean design and the ease of alignment make it a pleasure to play. Mine have graphite shafts as my hands have a little arthitis in them. Trust me when I say graphite and a slightly larger and softer grip make a huge difference. This is the first club that I have played with that lets me work the ball from either direction. I even drew a ball in a dogleg left green on a course that I've played 100 times but wasn't ever able to play it correctly. My last set were Taylormade OS, with the wide easy to hit sole. Easy maybe but lacked in playability. It's still about making the shot, and the high fives after. Ya got to love Cleveland.....Read full review
Bought these for my son as a starter set. He loves 'em. I think they are nice. I would have given the set a 5 star but, there's some light rust on the wedge. Cured with steel wool and elbow grease. The steel shafts look great and labels look good. The grips are original but, don't look wore out. The price was very reasonable for the condition of the set. The set was advertised as 1" over standard. Measuring them against 1" over graphite shafted irons and standard length Nike irons, they each look almost 1" over the Nike set but, well short of the graphite set. I've heard this is common. It's not really a complaint. They are longer than the standard clubs. My son is 6'1" at 16 and he says they feel and swing better than the standard length Nike's.
I love these clubs! I've only been to the driving range once, but I instantly love these things. They are by far the easiest irons I have ever hit, including the 3 iron. With the 3 I was consistently putting the ball around 215 yards and straight as an arrow. The short irons are just as great. I have so much control with the PW that I am honestly shocked by how well I'm able to strike the ball. All of them have great trajectory, great distance and are very forgiving on off-center shots. Definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a good set of irons to improve their game!
If you are a mid to high handicapper this is and excellent set of irons. These are built very well and have an extremely solid and somewhat soft feel to them. Granted they are not forged clubs but they don't feel like cheap cast clubs. They are forgiving but still give you the ability to control the ball a bit. Many of todays mid to oversize irons look bulky and kind of ugly but these have a traditional look that looks great in the bag. At address they inspire confidence, they are well balanced and they hit the ball far.
Bought these TA5's to play as a second set at a very rocky course. I also play Mizuno T-Zoid TI's, and the Clevelands are very similar clubs. They have a large forgiving sweet spot. You don't get great distance, but they hit high and straight. I am consistantly hitting the par 3 greens with them. Good game improvement clubs.
