I recently purchased a used Ping G5 driver in a 9 degree loft with a regular flex Grafalloy ProLaunch shaft and I am very happy with this club. It showed quite a bit of use and was not in nearly as good a shape as any of my used drivers or clubs, but after regripping it and purchasing another head cover for it, I am getting along fine with this club. I had been hitting a Ping G5 driver with a Aldila NV regular flex shaft in a 10 1/2 degree loft and was not happy with that combination. My old driver was in much better condition, but this used one works great for my swing and swing speed. I am still looking to find one in better condition and see no need in every buying anything else as long as I am able to play. I am 62 years old and play somewhere between 2000 to 3000 holes a year, depending on our Iowa weather and I think the G5 driver is as good as any driver on the market. I have played Ping irons for over twenty years and have owned 8 different models and have found Ping to be about the easiest club to hit and also their repair department to be the best in the golf business. They are very good at any repairs needed and also have a great website to aid in any problem solving. I will never play any other brand of clubs.Read full review
Well, my Cleavland Launcher got boken on a trip to Mexico. So now I had an excuse to get another one. I was able to go to my local golf store and demo several drivers on the course. I tried the Nike, Bridgestone, Tour Edge and the Ping G5 and the new Rapture. What seemed to make the biggest difference was the shaft. The Ping G5 came with the NV-65 by Adilda. What a great feeling and looking driver. When everything is right with my swing, this is the best driver I've ever hit. I was lucky enough to find the exact same driver here on ebay. I won the bid, and now it's mine. Here's to a great season! In the Fairway more often. Albuquerque, NM
Ping clubs are one of the better made clubs. They have a feel that helps you take your game to the next level with added confidence. Previously, I was playing with cheap new clubs and not enjoying the feel when one hits the ball. It just wasn't comfortable. With the Pings, most of the time you can hardly feel hitting the ball because they feel so good. I took at least ten strokes off my first game with them and get a little better every game since. Sure they are a little pricey but do like I did, shop around, get fitted, and buy some lightly used ones and save a bundle.
I used a 9* driver exactly like this for 10 yrs and could not find any better until I bought a Callaway V Series and used it for 2 years but could not hit it as straight. Then I bought an EPIC trying to get more distance and was a bit longer but not consistent. I went back to the 9* Ping and hit it so straight and almost as far. But I was hitting it low. So I got the10.5 off eBay to launch the ball better and I am hitting it straight and as long as the EPIC. I am 68 years old and a 2 Hcp. I don't miss many fairways. I average 240 yds. Sometimes. 250-260.

For three years, I played the TaylorMade R7 Quad and the R7 425. After reading a few good reviews, I decided to try the Ping G5. Mind you, I have never been a fan of Ping clubs. Most of their irons remind me of gardening tools, which may not be a bad thing given all the digging going on golf courses these days. In other words, I had to be converted to play with a Ping club. Well, I am now sitting on the front row singing the praises of the Ping G5. Pass the tees and balls, please! This G5 driver is nothing short of outstanding! You cannot adjust it like the R7s, but you don't need adjustment. You can work it left or right, hit high or low. It gives you a nice, resounding "pop" in the center and it gives you thinner, weaker sounds on miss hits. It has a very generous sweet spot and close gives you good outcomes, too. The little crescent on the crown helps with alignment. It's darn good-looking and it looks great over time. Unlike my R7s, the bottom of the club still has the paint on it. I think the Aldila NV shaft just feels light and perfectly matched for this club. The G5 is long--real long. You can just crush it with this driver and it will scream "He just crushed it!" Frankly, I would never have guessed I would still have it and love it a year later. Even the Rapture doesn't outrate it in recent reviews. It's the real deal and worth more than the price of admission. Dafoxyman "Beaten by skill, but NEVER by technology."Read full review
