vintage Jennings STANDARD CHIEF 5-cent Nickel Slot Machine w Indian Head Design
this style of Jennings STANDARD CHIEF Slot Machine was produced in the years after World War II; some were produced in 1946, thus this antique slot machine is from the time frame of the mid-1940's to possibly the early 1950's. I do not know the exact history of the production years, or the exact year this machine was produced, but the time frame of the 1940's to 1950's puts it in historical perspective... of course, at this time, slot machines and casinos were starting to boom in the USA in Las Vegas, as for mid-century history, the story of this particular machine is that it was seized in a Police Raid in the 1950's - early 1960's, in the central part of the USA... the machine was last working in the ~1960's; since the ~1960's the machine has been in storage; the back cover of the machine was lost; as I am not a vintage slot machine expert, please look at the detailed photos to see any details about the condition of the machine; the sale is for the machine as-is, as seen in the photos.
the Nickels played in the machine many years ago still show through the glass plate on the front of the machine; one Nickel shows a date of 1940, the other 1960... whether this machine was originally used at a casino in Las Vegas such as the Flamingo, Stardust, El Rancho, or other casino gaming establishment, I do not know... these five cent Standard Chief machines were made very beautiful to entice the Nickels out of people's pockets, and they likely did an excellent job of getting the Nickels... many moments of wonderment and joy when someone hit a jackpot, while producing a steady income stream for the owner of the CONDITION: please see the detailed photos; as the machine has been in storage since it stopped working around the mid-to late1960's, the machine is Not-Working, READY FOR RESTORATION...
when you put a Nickel in, the Nickel comes out the slot on the middle front of the machine... as seen in the photo, the small glass plate, located just below the Indian Head on the front, of has a horizontal crack line... FOR THIS sale I wiped down the Front & Sides of the Slot Machine, but I Did Not wipe down or clean the inside of the machine; cleaning the inside of the machine should be most safely down by a person who knows about Slot Machines & will Restore the machine... As seen in the photos, the machine Needs Restoration as there is peeling, flaking, etc on the shiny parts, and the wood is coming apart on the base, as seen in the photos... Restored machines of this model are typically in the $2,000.00 - $3,000.00 price range. Item is SOLD AS IS, In NON WORKING Condition; When you put a Nickel in the machine the Nickel comes out in what appears to be the small round Coin Return Slot in the middle of the front of the machine; NO RETURN; ITEM IS AS SEEN IN THE many DETAILED PHOTOS, which are of the ACTUAL ITEM...
