Here's a set of hickory clubs that have been fully restored and are ready for play. This set was specifically selected to have a nice match of lower swing weights and slightly shorter shafts. The clubs have all been regripped, with the iron grips being slightly smaller than today's standard, ideal for your average player, new to the hickory game.
Often when you look for a set of hickory clubs, there are little if any notes on the club specs and you can't test drive them. That's not a optimal way to buy clubs (you wouldn't do that for a new set of Ping irons or a Callaway driver would you?). We don't think that's a good way to sell clubs either. We chose all our clubs to be a set within themselves and give you the specs to see if they should be right for you. This group is no exception.
This set has 2 woods - a driver and a spoon. The spoon is very similar in specs to todays' 4 hybrid. There are 4 irons (no long iron as the spoon fills that need) that compliment the 2 woods.
All the irons and putter have had the heads removed, cleaned and reattach with a new pin and modern epoxy. This is important. Many hickory clubs that are on the market today will say the "head is securely attached to the shaft". That may be, but after 100+ years it may not be securely attached after being played for a round or two. "Repinning" the club head removes any doubt. And the club heads have all been treated with Rem Oil to help prevent rust.
All the shafts have been cleaned and coated with Tru Oil, which acts as a moisture barrier and makes them look good. As noted they have all been regripped. Again many hickory clubs on the market have the original grips. They may be OK, but new grips will ensure there's no slipping on 100+ year old ones.
The set has been course tested and feels very playable, especially the niblick which was made by George Nicoll from Leven, County Fife Scotland. However (the standard disclaimer), hidden defects may exist so we cannot guarantee they won't break. Sorry, all sales are final.
